Future Lawyer Scholarship
At McGilberry & Shirer, we’re excited to announce our First Annual Future Lawyer Scholarship Award. Beginning in 2020, we’re awarding $1,000 to a deserving student who authors the winning submission in our essay contest.

Please write 750-1,000 words on this topic: How has the power of the president of the United States changed over the last 100 years, and has this change been good or bad?
The scholarship will be awarded to the student who best demonstrates their knowledge and passion for the subject. The winning essay will demonstrate good organization and thoughtful writing.
When: We are currently accepting submissions.
Where: Use the application form below. Fill out the required fields and attach your essay, along with a copy of your unofficial transcripts.
Deadline: The deadline for submissions is November 15, 2020.
To be eligible for our scholarship contest you must be enrolled in either high school or college in the United States and a legal US resident. Students with full academic scholarships are not eligible to enter this contest.
The contest is open to all students who are in or are entering college. Students do not need to be law students or pre-law students to be eligible. All students who are in undergrad programs, in grad programs, or have been accepted into an undergrad or grad program are eligible for this content.
Your application must be submitted no later than the November 15, 2020 deadline. If your application is submitted after the deadline, it will not be accepted.
Winner Notification and Award Distribution
Once judgment of the submitted applications has been completed, the winner will be notified via phone, email, and/or mail.
The winner will be selected by June 1, 2021. The award will be distributed by July 1, 2021.
Use of the Award Money
The award winner understands and accepts that the scholarship monies will be sent directly to the winner’s school and shall be used only for tuition and education-related purposes.
* No information is collected from applicants other than the email application- and such material will not be shared except with permission for the purpose of awarding the scholarship. Only the winning applicant will be contacted for the purpose of awarding the scholarship.
